Callan Morgan
Lead Artist, Lead Designer, Project Manager, Make Mob Founder and Board Director
Callan is the founder and on the board of directors for Make Mob Melbourne. An accomplished artist and fabricator, Callan founded Pelican Studios in 2002 and specialises in large scale interactive sculptures. He has extensive experience in product development, industrial design and fabrication and has led numerous collaborative projects including Utility Kinetic Insect (UKI) and Next Cube, installed at the Melbourne School of Design. He is also currently working with architect Nonda Katsalidis’ on a modular ‘Unitised Building’ system..
Shaye Harty
Assistant Project Manager, Make Mob Board Director
Shaye is a multi-disciplinary artist, project management powerhouse, solutions engineer and founder of a US-based non-profit arts organisation. With over a decade of experience producing art installations and events around the world, she is a born leader and skilled problem solver. Serving as a director on multiple boards of art driven organisations has given her the knowledge needed to proactively drive policy, mitigate risk, monitor compliance, facilitate collaborative systems that inspire and administrate large complex budgets with ease.
Ravi Bessabava
Digital Design & Fabrication / complex geometry rationalisation.
While studying architecture at the University of Melbourne, Ravi focused on the intersection of complex geometry rationalization and environmental sustainability. After graduating he has balanced work in university roles, both teaching and in a technical capacity, with consulting work and the development of business ventures. In his university roles he has been able to focus on manufacturing and his current role which allows him to develop his skills in robotics and advanced manufacturing.
Charlie Waters
Lead Engineer
Drawing from his career running complex engineering and integration projects for the defense industry, Charlie has acquired a diverse range of generalist knowledge in enough areas to be able to assist in every aspect of the planning, resourcing, and project management of the Helios project. As the lead engineer, he will design and oversee the installation of all the electronics and wiring in the artwork.
Brad Hammonds
Creative Technologist
Brad co-founded the company EXP, which specializes in Augmented/Virtual reality experiences and interactive installations for a variety of industries , from arts and narrative experiences, to museum and training experiences. As an artist, he uses a variety of technologies as his medium; he often focuses his work around providing the audience with creative, expressive experiences as well as real time audio visual performances.
Naomi Faith
Sculpture and Fabrication
Naomi is a Melbourne based metal fabricator from the United States and founder of the Women's Welding Workshop. She has worked collectively on metal and light sculptures as well as independently on commercial steel installations. Her world bridges the industrial and the artistic, as she is both a budding aerial performance artist and a certified Rope Access technician, and these two realms often influence her work.
Josh Gurtler
Mechanical Engineer
Josh is a Mechanical Engineer with several years of experience in automation and machine design, with additional experience in automotive and electric vehicles. Some of his achievements have been designing and setting up an automated machining cell for 'lights out' manufacturing, as well as designing food processing and pharmaceutical machines.
Alex Brown
Industrial Design
Alex is a Melbourne-based industrial designer and maker specialising in 3D design, production and manufacturing. He takes a hands-on approach to product development from initial prototypes right through to full-scale manufacture in the realms of lighting, renewable energy, events and biomedical engineering..
Benjamin 'Bigs' Coppel
Lighting Design and Programming
As a teenager, Bigs began designing the lighting for musicals and concerts in the Chicago area. Throughout his career, he has been privileged to illuminate many festivals and prominent events in America and Australia. His recent works, such as the Hyper-Tesseract LED installation, have his focus shifted towards creating interactive lighting art installations, which allows him to share with others his professional passion - the magic and joy of playing with light.
